Aeromot S.A. (formerly Aeromot Aeronaves e Motores S.A.) is a Brazilian aerospace technology company founded in July 1967 and headquartered at Salgado Filho International Airport in Porto Alegre, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, with an operational base also at Pampulha Airport in Belo Horizonte.

The company operates in the civil aviation, public safety, and defense sectors, offering solutions that include aircraft sales, systems integration, component manufacturing, aircraft maintenance, and the execution of special missions.

Since 2016, it has been the exclusive distributor and authorized service center for Diamond Aircraft Industries in Brazil, having expanded its operations to Mercosur in 2023. Aeromot is recognized by the Ministry of Defense as a Strategic Defense Company (EED), due to its engineering capabilities and relevance to the national aviation sector.

History

Aeromot was founded with a focus on providing aircraft maintenance services. Over the following decades, it expanded its operations to include the manufacture of components and participation in engineering projects within the Brazilian aviation sector. During this period, it contributed to the development of the domestic industry, including participation in projects related to the Embraer EMB-110 Bandeirante.

In the late 1980s, the company entered the aircraft manufacturing sector by acquiring the production rights for the RF-10 motorized glider. Building on this technological foundation, it developed the Ximango family of aircraft, including the AMT-100, AMT-200 Super Ximango, and AMT-300 Turbo Ximango models, as well as the AMT-600 Guri light trainer.

Over the course of about twenty years, more than 200 aircraft were produced for civil and military operators in various countries. The AMT-200 Super Ximango model was designated TG-14A by the United States Air Force and was also operated by NASA.

Starting in 2009, the company began a strategic repositioning process, expanding its operations into systems integration, special missions, and projects of greater technological complexity. During this period, it accumulated hundreds of aeronautical modifications certified by ANAC and consolidated its presence in ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) solutions.

Recent Expansion and Global Partnerships (2014-present)

Since 2014, Aeromot has expanded its operations through strategic contracts and projects in the aerospace and defense sectors. In 2014, it supplied ISR systems for 33 helicopters used during the FIFA World Cup and the Confederations Cup. In 2016, it expanded these systems to the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games and supplied the first intelligence aircraft to the Federal Highway Police.

In 2017, the company celebrated its 50th anniversary. In 2018, it supplied Leonardo AW169 and AW119 helicopters to the State Government of Rio de Janeiro. In 2019, it was certified as a Strategic Defense Company (EED) and Strategic Defense Product (PED).

In 2022, it launched the AeroCITI project, an integrated aeronautical industrial complex. In 2023, it signed a cooperation agreement with Textron Aviation and expanded its partnership with Diamond Aircraft to include the licensed assembly of the DA62 aircraft in Brazil.

Between 2024 and 2025, the company expanded its infrastructure and operational bases, including strengthening its base in Belo Horizonte and expanding services related to Diamond aircraft in the country.

AeroCITI and Expansion Plan

AeroCITI (Integrated Aerospace Technology and Innovation Center) is an industrial-aerospace complex currently under development in the municipality of Guaíba (RS), with a planned area of approximately 500 hectares.

The project includes airport infrastructure, an innovation center, industrial facilities, logistics, and aircraft assembly under license, and is designed with a focus on technological innovation and integration with the aeronautical sector. In 2025, the cornerstone of the complex was laid.

AeroCITI is part of the company’s expansion plan through 2030, aimed at expanding industrial capacity, technological development, and strengthening its presence in the aeronautical sector.

AMT-X

The AMT-X is an aircraft project currently under development by Aeromot, conceived as a twin-engine aircraft designed for passenger transport and engineered to operate on aviation ethanol (ATJ). The aircraft aims to become the ‘’'first twin-engine aircraft certified for passenger transport powered by ethanol'‘’, contributing to the development of sustainable solutions for aviation.

The project calls for extensive use of composite materials, accounting for over 80% of its structure, with the goal of reducing weight, increasing aerodynamic efficiency, corrosion resistance, and operational lifespan. Classified in the RBAC-23 category, the AMT-X is expected to have a capacity of up to 11 occupants and is in the early stages of technological development, being developed in cooperation with Brazilian research institutions.

Certifications

Aeromot is certified by the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) as a Maintenance Organization (COM) and is authorized to perform maintenance and modifications on fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft.

The company also holds certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which allows it to perform services and install solutions on aircraft registered in the United States.

Additionally, it has obtained Production Organization Certification (COP), making it qualified to operate simultaneously in production, maintenance, and aviation operations, including RBAC 21 (production), RBAC 145 (maintenance), and RBAC 135 (public air transport) certifications.
