There are currently four recognized species in this genus:

- Allocyttus guineensis Trunov & Kukuev, 1982 (Guinea oreo)
- Allocyttus niger G. D. James, Inada & I. Nakamura, 1988 (Black oreo)
- Allocyttus verrucosus (Gilchrist, 1906) (Warty dory)
