The Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI; Korean: 한국과학기술정보연구원) is a government-funded research institute under the Ministry of Science and ICT of South Korea. Established in 1962 and headquartered in Daedeok Science Town, Daejeon. KISTI supports national research and development (R&D) by providing science and technology information services, data analytics, and high-performance computing (HPC) resources. KISTI operates national platforms such as the National Science & Technology Information Service (NTIS) and leads efforts in digital transformation, innovation policy, and international scientific collaboration.[citation needed]

History

KISTI was founded in 1962 as the Korean Science and Technological Information Center, and was later reorganized in 1982 into the Korean Institute for Industrial Economics and Trade (KINTI).[citation needed]

In 2002, the institute underwent its final reorganization when KINTI merged with the Korea Research and Development Information Center.[citation needed] In 2004, KISTI was designated as the first government funded research institute.[non-primary source needed] In 2005, the institute was designated as the managing organization for the National Science & Technology Information Service.
