Pinus tropicalis, the tropical pine, is a pine tree endemic to the western highlands of the island of Cuba. It is a large tree with a slender trunk. Bizarrely, the tropical pine belongs to Pinus section Pinus, a section that is otherwise almost entirely restricted to the Old World. The only other New World species in the section is only distantly related to it, while its closest living relatives are instead found in Southeast Asia.

Description

It is a rather large tree, growing up to 30 metres (98 feet) tall. The bark is brown to grey.
